Care Working

With life expectancy growing with almost each generation the private Care industry is one which should continue to provide increased employment opportunities.

So what is Care Working?

In very general terms a typical Care Worker would work on a shift basis making house calls or calls to care homes to those elderly or infirm people who need some help with their everyday personal needs.

These can include simply making sure that the patient is taking the correct medication, assisting with washing, cleaning, dressing, cooking meals, shopping and maybe most importantly providing a friendly face to listen and provide company each day.

It is a basic fact of life that many of us will reach a stage in our lives where we are unable to cope with tasks which we previously found extremely simple.

Care workers provide the solution to this dilemma with trained workers assisting where required.

One of the very fundamental rules within the care profession is that the respects, dignity and personal wishes of the individual patient are respected at all times. The Care Work’s role is to assist, to care and to encourage whilst maintaining these very important principles at all times.

A career in Care Working can be extremely satisfying and, while at times it may seem like a vocation rather than a ‘job’, the satisfaction of knowing that you have been able to assist somebody in need is a marvellous feeling at the end of a long shift of visits.

Many Care Workers with the idea that they are treating their patients as they would like their own parents to be treated in a similar situation, or picture themselves in the patient’s shoes and treat them in the way they would like to be treated themselves.
